SIJ (Sacroiliac Joint) Pain
Serving Mount Hutton & surrounding Lake Macquarie suburbs. Evidence-based chiropractic care for back pain, neck pain, headaches, sciatica and more. No referral needed.
The sacroiliac joints sit where the base of your spine meets your pelvis. When they're not moving well or become irritated, they can cause pain low in the back, over the buttock, or into the hip and groin. At our Mount Hutton clinic, Dr Elvin assesses the SIJ and surrounding structures and treats accordingly.

SIJ (Sacroiliac Joint) Pain — FAQ
Can chiropractic help SIJ pain?
For many people, yes. Chiropractic care aims to improve movement and reduce irritation around the sacroiliac joint, alongside advice and exercises to support the pelvis. Dr Elvin will assess how much the SIJ is contributing before recommending a plan.
How is SIJ pain different from other back pain?
SIJ pain is usually felt lower and more to one side than typical lower-back pain, often over the buttock. Because it can overlap with hip and lower-back problems, assessment is used to work out the main driver.
Is SIJ pain related to pregnancy?
It can be — pelvic and SIJ pain is common during and after pregnancy. See our pregnancy-related pain page for more, and let us know if you're pregnant so we can tailor your care.
